Is it Prêt-à-Porter or Prêt-à-Craft?

A White Bird Passes

The title refers to a book by Jessie Kesson, which I read years ago and was profoundly moving.  It is about loss, longing and hope.

Walking by the sea helps me to think: the slow rhythmic beat of the waves and the changing tides are given echo in the repetitive coiling of the work. The collected “beach ephemera” – shells, bits of driftwood, tangled flotsam and jetsam, stones, bones and feathers all have their own meaning – metaphors for my own complex emotions which inspired the work.
